June 2016 Meeting

Next meeting: Tuesday, 14 June, 2016

First Half Hour at 6 PM
Main Presentation at 6:30 PM

Topic: Network Attached Storage by Jon Flowers

Apple announcements at WWDC will be the day before this meeting. We will run through all of the announcements get get you up to date.

Network Attached Storage or NAS is one or more hard drives (or SSDs) that are not plugged directly into your Mac, but are accessed via your home network. NAS can be used to back up your files, store your music library, your movies, and your photo library. These libraries can be accessed by more than one computer, increasing your flexibility.

NAS devices can be purchased with the network systems ready to go, and a few settings to attend to. The hardest part may be the installation of hard drives into the NAS box. Or you can build your own NAS device from scratch.

Jon Flowers is going to show us NAS devices. Jon has used several, and even built his own from the ground up. Jon will show us how to get a NAS up and running, and use it for your libraries. He will tell us the best brands, and the best ways to set set up a NAS for the greatest benefit.

The meeting is at the Metrum Credit Union, 1/3 of a mile south of Arapahoe on the east side of Holly in Centennial. The doors will open at 6 PM, and the visit time will be from 6 PM to 6:30 PM. A good time to ask questions and get advice from fellow members!

As always, we will meet about 5 PM and the Panera Bread on the SE corner of Holly and Orchard for a little supper.
