November 2018 Meeting

Jon,

Fantastic presentation last week. I enjoyed my visit to the MUG and will return!

After doing some thinking, and learning, it seems that a Raid 5 is not a backup solution. I'm wondering if a Raid 1 with say 8 drives (4 net) would be a better solution for a home media server... say like Plex.

Thoughts?

Ron

Next meeting: Tuesday, 13 November, 2018

First Half Hour at 6 PM
Main Presentation at 6:30 PM

Topic: Siri Shortcuts

People ask for new iOS features all the time, and some of the requests get pretty complex. And, many are personalized, and would be of interest to just one person. Apple is making iOS 12 much more powerful with the introduction of Siri Shortcuts. Shortcuts has many abilities including taking dictation, sending emails or texts, turning lights off and on. And, these capabilities can be combined in a single command.

Rick Hyman will show you how to use Siri Shortcuts along with Siri Suggestions and Add to Siri, features described in the October and November newsletters. You will want to bring your iPhone and iPad, so you can follow along with the demonstration. Examples of downloading existing Shortcuts will be shown along with how to modify Shortcuts, and even how to build one from scratch.

The meeting is at the Metrum Credit Union, 1/3 of a mile south of Arapahoe on the east side of Holly in Centennial. The doors will open at 6 PM, and the visit time will be from 6 PM to 6:30 PM. A good time to ask questions and get advice from fellow members!

As always, we will meet about 5 PM and the Panera Bread on the SE corner of Holly and Orchard for a little supper.
