January 2018 Meeting

Jon,

Fantastic presentation last week. I enjoyed my visit to the MUG and will return!

After doing some thinking, and learning, it seems that a Raid 5 is not a backup solution. I'm wondering if a Raid 1 with say 8 drives (4 net) would be a better solution for a home media server... say like Plex.

Thoughts?

Ron

Next meeting: Tuesday, 9 January, 2018

First Half Hour at 6 PM
Main Presentation at 6:30 PM
Digitizing Photos

Many people have struggled to get old photos digitized, before they degrade with time. It can be a big chore, when digitizing hundreds or even thousands of old photos.

Rom Adams has recently done just that. As Ron said "Digitizing your photos is a great way to preserve, document, share and access your memories. But digitizing the photos is just a part of the process. My wife and I recently completed a project of digitizing ~9,000 photos. I’ll share what we learned, and leave you with some recommendations."

This is a big opportunity to get your own photo digitizing project under way. Come and learn how to get organized. Bring your questions!

The meeting is at the Metrum Credit Union, 1/3 of a mile south of Arapahoe on the east side of Holly in Centennial. The doors will open at 6 PM, and the visit time will be from 6 PM to 6:30 PM. A good time to ask questions and get advice from fellow members! As always, we will meet about 5 PM and the Panera Bread on the SE corner of Holly and Orchard for a little supper.
